About Me
I'm Henry, a 28 year old who has spent the past 6 years living in Granada, in the south of Spain, and Retrofract is my Balearic House alter ego. I am now moving to Barcelona where I hope to be inspired by the city and the people I meet there.
Influenced by the climates of the Costa Tropical, my tracks and mixes are perfect for when relaxing by the pool or watching the sunset. However, when in a nightclub setting, I blend old school and acid sounds, inspired by my dad's vinyl house collection and soundtracks to futuristic racing games I heard on the Playstation 1 when growing up.
I have been making music for as long as I remember but only decided in the spring of 2022 to finally release my music into the world. I independently mixed, mastered and released for the first year but since then I have released on several labels including M-Sol Records, Be Adult Music, Personal Belongings and Y4 Collective to name a few.
To produce my music I primarily use Logic Pro X with my M-Audio Oxygen Pro Mini, but when wanting that signature acid sound I have used my Behringer TD3-MO, the emulator of the famous TB-303.
FUN FACTS
The name 'Retrofract' comes from a South African fern called 'Asparagus Retrofractus' that I found in the Barbican in London.
I can speak three languages and am learning a fourth.
When I'm not producing, DJing or promoting my work, I teach English as a foreign language.
